Benoit Viellefon has long been a firm favourite at the most elegant places around the country. The line up and orchestrations are inspired by the hot swinging music that emerged from the infamous Parisian Cafes and nightclubs of the 1920s 1930s and 1940s.
The Hot Club’s performances celebrate the burning excitement of those hot gypsy swing numbers made famous by Django Reinhardt, together with the romanticism of the finest French and Italian numbers. With a nod to the American jazz virtuosi who visited Paris, such as Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington, the Hot Club features both clarinet, tenor saxophone and trumpet alongside the timeless two-guitars and double bass lineup. But they are also often true to the original “Hot Quintet De France” Django Reinhardt Grapelli line up, with the addition of a virtuoso violin player.
Since 2005 Benoit Viellefon has performed all over the UK, Europe, Russia, India and Japan and to critical acclaim. Whether with his Orchestra, The Hot Club or his trio, Benoit has recorded fourteen well received albums and film soundtracks, and played prestigious venues, from residencies at Ronnie Scotts and the Royal Albert Hall, to playing Glastonbury Festival five times. He also appears regularly in Hollywood films and TV productions, and Immersive theatre shows. He often gets hired by VIP such as Madonna, Rowan Atkinson, the Kremlin, the Royal Family and many others to perform at their private events.
